Cranial Technologies

Through our research about Plagiocephaly we found specialists in Miami! Our first visit of many was last Friday. We were amazed at their service, confidence, and ability. They spent over two hours with us explaining, answering questions, measuring, taking several photos, and a digital scan of Cy's head. Cy did amazing. They made him twist and turn so many ways- and hold still, and put on a mask, and primp for the pics. He is such a good boy!

Waiting in the Room- Look at that Rotten Smile!

Getting his hair slicked down for the pictures- He was so proud!

My Little Puppy Dog!

My Little Bank Robber! This is the only part he really wasn't a fan of! But he did fine as soon as they started singing- the Wheels on the Bus!

Come January Cy will be wearing the helmet 23 hours a day- every day!

Ornaments on and mostly OFF the tree!

All Children's Hospital

While we were in St. Petersburg to see the brain doctor we visited the All Children's Hospital that Cy was at his first week of life.
This is the Nurse, Stephanie, that took care of him when he first arrived. Cy wanted to tell her thank you and let them know he is healthy now. We really appreciates all of the nurses and doctors that took such good care of him.

Then we went to the Ronald Mc Donald House to also tell them thanks for letting us stay there, and show them a big healthy Cy. We were so thankful for all they did to make such a tragic week more bearable.

Cy wanted to ride the horsey there since he didn't get to the last time!

Danicin' Babe

I'm 10 months old

Waiting to see the Neurologist

Baby Cy, you are perfect just the way you are! We are so glad that there is nothing wrong with your brain, and that everything is developing just right. This helmet thing is no big deal. Mommy has to keep reminding herself of that. Its cosmetic. And we just want to make sure that later on, there are no problems with symmetry, which could later cause worse problems than a flat head. The doctors are gonna make you all better- and we will get through this tough time, no sweat! You are gonna be the cutest lil' wrestler/football player we know!

Plagiocephaly

A big word for flat head. Cy loves to sleep on his right side. Well, love and sleep should not be in the same sentence with Cy but anyway when he is sleeping he is on his right side. Car-seat, bed, swing, everything, thus flat head. We tried our best to turn his head when possible, but we were more concerned about Cy sleeping in general, that when he finally went to sleep- we didn't want to disrupt him to turn his head. Now I wish we would have more.

Cy is most likely going to have to wear a reconstructing helmet. We have had x-rays taken, visited the Pediatric Neurologist, and have an appointment Friday with an Orthotic center that makes the helmets. Thankfully everything is developing great as far as his brain. We are lucky that it is just a cosmetic fix.

We are not sure how long the correction period will take, we have read anywhere from 3-8 months. But he will have to wear it 23 hours a day, with only a short break for a bath. I am really nervous about getting Cy use to it. He even hates to wear a hat!!! Please pray for him, and us! We are just now getting him to sleep better- this may throw another kink in the plan!

SAFETY FIRST!

We promised Cy a helmet and since the doctor didn't give him one- we decided we had better deliver! We are ready to go bike riding now! And Cy is Super SAFE! Check out the knee and elbow pads! he is ready for the X-games. We will probably get his orthodic helmet soon too!
