Snap Shot

March-April
Hazel at 3-4 months.  We are starting to see her eyes open more, but she still loves to sleep.  She is such a happy and content baby.  She loves to smile and is starting to laugh and interact with her brothers.  Her eyes are always so big, alert and bright, my nickname as a baby/little girl was “bright eyes”.  Maybe she will get at least one thing from me.  Everyone is already saying “looks like we’ve got another Jamie.”  She does look just like the boys as babies, except she has a bow on of course.  I took pictures of all three of them on the same blanket and only a diaper and even Jamie and I can’t tell who is who 100% of the time. She likes tummy time, and batting the toys on her play mat.  She rolled over for the first time super early, 2 months, but it was kind of an accident.  Cruz and I were playing with legos and she was on a blanket next to us.  All of a sudden she pushed up and flipped over from tummy to back.  Cruz was so excited, jumping up and down and celebrating.  Then trying to get her to do it for Cy and daddy later.  She really started rolling at 3 months and now at 4 months we can’t keep her on a blanket.  She just rolls to wherever she need to get.

She likes to sit at the table in her highchair when we eat, and inevitably is hungry whenever mommy wants to sit down and eat.  She likes her swing and sits in her bumbo for short spans, like when we are playing a board game on the floor.  Cruz likes her to be right with us, involved all the time.  She loves to sleep in her bed.  From the time we brought her home in her hospital she has preferred her crib over the bassinet in our room.   She has quite a few nicknames- Daisy, Hazie, Duck (Daisy Duck shortened to Duck)  Duncan (derived from Duck) Punkin, Missy Kate,

The boys are playing baseball right now- Machine pitch!  Both are doing really well but all of a sudden it looks like Cy is going to be our little athlete!  He can sure crank that bat and knock it out of the park- especially when we pitch to him.  The machine pitch is so fast its pretty hard to hit- but they have both gotten a few hits at games.  Just the other day on the way to a game with Cruz I was talking to him about trying to get some outs when he is fielding.  He said he didn’t want to because kids like to run the bases, not have to walk back out to the bench.  I had to explain to him, its like a race and if he gets to the base with the ball first he wins!  And he got an out at first!  He was so proud!

Cy is also LOVING basketball.  He wants that to be his next sport.  They are allowed to pick one per season.  We got a adjustable Goal and we all have been playing a lot, but Cy is constantly shooting hoops!  We have been writing his site words on the driveway all around the court, and playing “around the words” instead of around the world.  He got through his last 3 site word lists so quickly!

We are so thankful for our neighborhood and the kids right around our house.  There is always someone to play with.  Either knocking on our door, or running around in the woods you can find someone!  Cara, Alle, Ben, Holten, Landry, LuLu, Wyatt, Trent, and Brodie are so fun to have around.  All the parents take turns giving each other breaks and having all the kids over to play.

We have also been going to the creeks and exploring now that it is finally starting to warm up.  We find crawfish, toads, little fish- that we cant catch, and lots of cool things!  Clay war paint is cruzie’s favorite- and mommy’s too! Hazel has been down to the creek several times in my sling!  She loves it- so many things to see!  She also has been on a few hikes in Fort Mitchell in that sling.  She is a real adventure girl, and loves being outside!  We take several walks a week- the boys ride bikes and the girls try to keep up with the stroller.

Hazel’s 2nd plane ride was to Florida for Spring Break.  We had a great time with friends and family relaxing at the beach and pool.  We even got to go to LegoLand with Mamaw and Papaw.  Unfortunately, it was FREEZING when we got back to KY.
